I'm Michaela. I'm an actor, singer, and teaching artist. I grew up in Philadelphia so yes, GO EAGLES (and Phillies and Sixers and Flyers)! Also go soft pretzels, wudder ice, the Betsy Ross house, and going "down the shore."
At the best small liberal arts college in the world, Swarthmore College, I studied theater as an actor, director, dramaturg, historian, and teacher. I cut my teeth working on modern, classic, and devised pieces. I created a theater program that brought Swarthmore students into schools in Philadelphia to teach playwriting & acting. At Swarthmore, I was able to share stories with my community that felt relevant, resonated with my values, and began conversations.
I love sharing stories. I have worked regionally in productions, concerts, readings, and workshops at theaters such as the Arden Theatre Company, Walnut Street Theatre, Resident Theatre Company, PlayPenn, 11th Hour Theatre Company, the Wilma Theater, Theatre Horizon, Delaware Shakespeare, & 1812 Productions. I also find tremendous joy producing and acting for my own theater company, Half Key Theatre Company, where we highlight stories of forgotten women throughout history.
I work locally in both NYC and Philadelphia.
